Live at Signal Number Five/Typhoon Haiyan Relief

Logo designed for Live at Signal Number 5! Taking inspiration from the iconic playing card graphics, a staple in gaming tables, this version offers an upbeat and playful Vegas-sy feeling. Luna designed this for the multi-venue fundraiser concert series for Typhoon Haiyan Relief.
Photo credits: Team Rubicon. This image of a boy picking up his violin was so haunting, it inspired the tone and direction of the key graphics for the Event Campaign. A note raised for Typhoon Haiyan.
This is how the story begins. A scene from a Facebook post by Mashable, of a silhouette of a solitary figure, surveying the ruins.
A graphic profile of the fury's remains. Musical notes rise to convey comfort and hope. "Notes for Typhoon Haiyan".
Music is symphony of the soul, in varying moods and tones, it can be still, it can be vibrant, it can be upbeat. The layering of notes seem to indicate that. And music is a refuge for the downtrodden, but the variances in the beat can alter the sorrow.
"If music be the food of love, play on".

Quoting William Shakespeare, from the play, Twelfth Nights.

While looking at a few heart-wrenching images from the various news bureaus on the internet, there was one particular image that caught our attention. The photograph parralleled that of a scene from the film,"The Morning After". There was this image of a solitary shadow melting into the dark and gloomy vista, And from another frame, a boy who picks up his violin in the midst of the fury's aftermath, perhaps to see if it would still work. But then the strains and streams continued to pick up, and for each note raised up, each piece of his sad soul would rise with the pitch-perhaps a prayer, surely a dint of hope. And we were inspired to call this " A Note for Typhoon Haiyan"-to rally the communities to come together through music, dance and rap in aid of those that were deeply impacted by the calamity.
