Little Salvages is my Etsy shop, which was founded on the belief in and commitment I have to finding new and useful everyday purposes for materials that cannot be recycled or reused in their current state. The main reason I opened this shop was because I noticed that a lot of stores use vinyl signs for outdoor promotions. These signs can be invaluable during the time they're displayed, but once that time is over, they become completely useless. When talking to shop owners, I found that, more often than not, this thick, weather resistant, colorful vinyl piles up somewhere in a back room and no one knows what to do with it.

I began collecting as much of it as I could, dedicating one corner of my living room to vinyl. I taught myself the basics of using a sewing machine, and got down to business sewing bags and wallets.

Soon, I began realizing that Little Salvages should be a creative outlet for all of the things that I enjoy doing commercially. I started binding and hand painting journals and making decorations for events. This is my workspace, situated in the middle of my living room.

The journal is saddle stitched with natural binder's thread and made with Mohawk Environment Desert Storm paper. The cover is hand painted with teal acrylic paint.

The film attached to the cover of this journal was salvaged from a local university library when they were discontinuing the use of microfiche.

This hand-cut confetti is made from microfiche film.

Designed to be used as a decoration for weddings or parties, I hand punched the salvaged microfiche film into one-inch rounds.

Intended uses: dust them over a table for a super quick and easy party decoration, use as an embellishment to your scrapbook pages or handmade cards, or use them as part of your own gift tags.
