"Life FORCE" PHotography
- "Life FORCE"An exhibit of "Life FORCE" Energy & Love
- This is a small glimpse of the exhibition of photography I am looking to showcase Fall 2011
Welcome
So, I start with a simple question “What does ......X...... Look like?”
I have been fascinated, even as a young child by people’s energy or life force. The unseen invisible force that emanates out from everyone,
I sense it, I feel it, and I see it in my mind.
The scientist would say electromagnetic, the physicist would call it sub atomic vibration or frequency, to me it is simply a mystery and beauty I seek to understand.
My earliest visual recollection of this was in numerous churches I would visit as a young choirboy. There, captured in the stained glass windows were all these images of people with auras surrounding them. As sunlight would burst through, it would create an ethereal effect of dancing light and energy where ever it happened to fall and capture my imagination as we sang.
I describe my work as capturing the unseen to the naked eye.
We now live in a digital world, a networked world, a connected driven world.
We live in a world that is full of energy, physical, invisible, spiritual energy.
I try to capture the feeling of abstract energy that surrounds us. Every image is unique and not able to be reproduced due to the movement and expression I choose with every click.
It is the Jackson Pollock of the digital age, of the human spirit and the tangled universe that we all live in.
I have started out on this journey drawing references from my own understanding and limited experience in the Church of England and now through my even more limited understanding of Eastern philiosophy and other religions.
All religions and all life reference an invisible life force or energy. They all carry their own distinctions, merits and traditions. There are various symbolic images associated with some and not with others. I have started with the initial list below, but like all great endeavors I feel it is incomplete and this will evolve over time and understanding and I sincerely hope that I will revisit this topic many times through the course and many stages of my own life.
Holy Spirit, Ruach Hakodesh, al-Ruh al-Qudas, Jibreel, Prana, Qi,
Energeia, Divine, Karma, Chakra.
My photography is a combination of all of the above words.
An attempt to embrace each religion’s own life force or spiritual energy.
These represent my own perception and interpretation of soul ‘light & energy’.
I see a much more integrated life force, one which is constantly vibrating or in motion. Some may say a divine matrix.
