A long series of travels and adventures, which span the globes diverse cultural palette; an Odyssey; My Odyssea; your Oddyssea.
Conventional wisdom encourages us to follow the norms of society; however our personal voyage of self-discovery is anything but the norm, as the complexities of our inner-self cannot be contained by the bias laws of society. Oddyssea is a travel brochure, which promotes unconventional travel destinations allowing you to embark on your unconventional journey of discovery.
Layout-wise, I have chosen to take a very technical approach. By technical I mean every where you gaze, pictures are being juxtaposed, blocks have been removed from their intended spots and certain sections have been lightened. It now looks as though the picture/Amsterdam has been dissected. On the inside spreads (& back cover), there is an obscure circular shape in the heart of design.
Referred to as the "City Of Half-circular Layouts" (I feel it describes both Amsterdam an the layout of this catalogue perfectly).
In the centre we have a collage of all the other buildings in the city. One will notice however, that the style of collage is so very different to how I normally do my collages. Whereas I would normally let the pictures feather and blend into one another, this time around, the pictures are all stacked up against one another, almost as though they are all placed in blocks. This was done to fit the whole geometric style we're running throughout the catalogue.

The headings have been placed in rectangles & squares. The numbering, in its unconventional style has been cornered off and placed into imaginary blocks.
Notice the unconventional style of the contents layout an page numbering...very modern, very architectural almost, playing off of Amsterdam's architecture. The imagery deliberately overlaps one another, yet one still gets an idea of what's going on underneath...a true reflection of goings on in the city of Amsterdam (artistic/historical settings wrapped in a fresh coat of modernism).
The choice of shots used in the job is also somewhat significant. The pictures used are not your average (expected) shots of tourist destinations in Amsterdam. Instead, gritty, everyday locations in and around the city have been selected and glossed-up to look as though they've had rich colours airbrushed onto them.
Amsterdam, Monaco, Berlin, Istanbul and Naple offers a cultural experience of note, as it is through experiencing others that we truly discover ourselves, for when we discover cultures, we become cultured. Thus the traveler travels not out of desire but necessity, as they have simplified the secret to inner peace; ODDYSSEA. Read Less
