In this project, the brief was to produce a softback booklet based on the theme of 'Simplicity'. This had to be reflected within the layout of the booklet compiling image and text with any chosen content. I had to also consider what materials and binding method to use in producing the book as well as how the book would work digitally in the form of an E-book.
In response to this brief, I chose to create an exhibition booklet for the american artist Daniel Arsham* after being heavily inspired looking at his work. Arsham's 3Dimensional work consists of vast white sculptures and installations he creates, using plaster, fiberglass, and other joint compounds. The organic softness of the white lines created within the creases of his work was a guide for me in thinking about the layout of booklet inside and type of paper I used to make the book. This project pushed me to produce many prototypes and explore different ways of binding, in which I learnt simple hand stitching methods in the end to bind my booklet.
