Shot in the winter of 2009. Lasnamägi has hundreds of apartment complexes that were built during the 1970´s, when The Soviet Union immigrated thousands and thousands of cheap russian labour to Tallinn. Amazingly, there is alot of space between the apartment buildings, so parks and playgrounds are not uncommon. Every house is almost identical to the other which creates and odd labyrinthic feel while visiting Lasnamägi. Getting lost is something you must consider, if you are visiting this labyrinth for the first time. Architecture aside, Lasnamägi is an interesting microsociety in Tallinn. Even now, this part of the city still gives you a nostalgic feel of the soviet times.
I shot it in black and white film and developed it underexposed to give that dark, depressing feeling of Lasnamägi.
