Mikes Lampshades

These lampshades are based in geometric polyhedra, and so have an inherent harmonic symmetry.

They are made from Polypropylene, cut by a laser, and are spherical with approx. 36cm diameters.

They are all made as a kit of parts that can be self assembled..... however some are more complex than others.

They have been designed to clip onto a ceiling pendant lighting fitting byoverlapping leaves spiraling around the 5mm cord.

An access hole is available at the bottom, or on some designs to provide access to the light fitting.

All designs are WIP (work in progress). Watch this space for updates

RO-DO
Made from 12 identical pieces, takes about 15mins to assemble
Based on a Rombic Dodecahedron
SWIRL
Made from 6 pieces, takes about 30mins to assemble
Based on an Icosa Dodecahedron
WIGGLE - Made from 16 pieces that wiggle their way around this shape.
Based on the Icosa-dodecahedron (like the FIFA football) and picking out the pentagrams and pentagon sides.
Harder to make, needs patience and care, approx 60mins to construct
ICOSA - Made from just 10 pieces, 5 top & 5 bottom.
Easy to make, takes about 10 mins.
The small insert shows it with the bottom open for access, but it looks nice like this to me, like a flower.
ICOSA-2F
Mae from 30 pieces, and takes about 30 mins to assemble
Based on a two frequency Icosahedron
FLIGHT (Escher like butterflys)
Made from 6 identical strips
Based on the Icosa-dodecahedron (like the FIFA football)
Easy to make, takes about 20 min
SPIRAL6
Made from 6 identical pieces
W.I.P. - Original design developed in Rhino by Denis Lacej
Easy to make, takes about 10mins
