Gift Box - Course: Design ApplicationsThis was a research based packaging design project. The objective was to combine two cultures into one package. The two countries chosen were Italy and India. The gift box packaging design is for a lingerie boutique in Italy that specializes in hand woven Rabari Choli style garments. After doing research in both the cultures and in the many different ways to package products, I designed a unique box that reflected both Italian architecture and Rabari textiles.
The name Lakshmi was chosen because it is the name of the goddess of wealth and beauty, which reflects the nature of this Italian lingerie boutique.
View from the top of the box resembles a lotus flower which has been an auspicious symbol of indian culture.
