La Gorge
- "La Gorge" was a methodology project I developed during my first trimester at the Instituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. We had to create a concept and a garment using a part of the human body, and I chose hair. I was inspired by the 16th and 17th century ruffs used by nobility, and decided to add this weird element which is hair, to give it a twist and also to make the piece a bit more dramatic. I feel as if it could be taken from a horror movie and directly into the catwalk. This methodology class was taken by at least 150 students, and all of them had to present this project. A jury composed by our teachers selected the best 10 projects to be shown inside the school. My project was one of those 10. It was one of the most rewarding moments of my life. The last picture shows the ruff being exposed in one of the school´s hallways.

- The photoshoot for the project (in which I was the model by the way, lol), was inspired by Picasso´s "Arlequines" series. I used the same warm color palette PIcasso used in some of them, and tried to give the pictures a sense of sadness and decay. When I was about fifteen I went to a small Picaso gallery in Germany and saw one of these "Arlequin" paintings. Since that moment I became obsessed with them, and their meaning. They are supposed to be Picasso´s alter ego, these poor clowns that live to make other people enjoy, but are in fact very sad and lonely. This feeling of being "used" is what I try to accomplish in the pictures, this time being the model who is in pain and suffering. The modeling world, ¿is it a clownish world?
