The John B. Stetson Company is without question the most recognized brand in the history of hat manufacturers. Stetson is the world's largest hat maker producing over 3.3 million hats a year. When looking through photographs of famous gunfighters and lawmen of the Old West, the Stetson "Boss of the Plains" hat makes numerous appearances. Stetson is recognized as the original inventor of the cowboy hat. The Stetson brand has become synonymous with the highest quality available when it comes to hat wear and colognes.
Of course it was an honor when I was contacted by Stetson to refurbish their logo crest. They were using antique printing dies that were breaking down and the original artwork had never existed in a digital format. I was provided with scanned images from multiple versions of the Stetson crest that had been printed on fabric and instructed to combine elements from each of them and rework specific elements into a polished vector logo.
My hand can be seen in the details but the subject matter of the Stetson crest has a heritage that goes straight back to the Old West. I'm very pleased with the revitalized look that resulted from the combination of antique western hand work and modern vector precision.
