As a part of my community service in my last few years of school, I completed a graphic for a community needs program called L2F at J10 Christian Church in Ashburn, Virginia. My challenge was to take their existing logo and implement it into a visually intriguing Thank You or Greeting card template. Because L2F is a needs community that concerns itself with the well-being of children and families in the Northern Virginia area, I wanted to be sure the graphic card I created illustrated that same love and passion, using the churches two colors black and orange. I used Illustrator for the vector illustrations, and chose to go with a giving tree concept, making the leaves hearts to represent the churches heart going out to the community. To create interest on the back side of the card, I shrunk the tree vector down and used it in combination with the logo for the framing of the main contact and site information. I am a member at J10, and seeing these cards printed and used for the needs community in the area that I grew up in was certainly a privilege.
