All the hours spent toiling over ideas and sketches, the copious amounts of coffee, the blurring of night with day -- the upheaval of the so-called 'work/life balance' are all in pursuit of this one elusive idea. It doesn't matter how big the brand, nor how small the names behind it; how wide the media reach is or the number of retweets. You're certainly not doing it just to answer a brief or make a client happy, merit goes beyond that. And there's no room for second-best, no silver and bronze.
