Every Friday afternoon a group of indian and pakistani immigrant workers and labourers gather around in Dubai for few friendly games of Kushti. Kushti, also known as Pehlwani, is a traditional asian style wrestling that's popular in Iran, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Kushti matches or competitions are known as "Dangals", and takes place on a dirt pit.
It takes years of training and dedication to master the sport and most of these wrestlers have been practicing since their early teens. Its heart warming to see these immigrant workers hanging on to their love for the sport even in a foreign country with no facilities or support for the sport. These contests are held on an open dirt ground, there are no boundaries, no entry fee, everybody is welcome to enjoys these matches for free.
