Keyboards, 2008

  • Keyboards, 2008

Some time ago I was in an charity shop when I saw a couple of keyboards for sale. One thing led to another and I now have about 200 of them awaiting my attention. I created a few works, experimented with painting them, and sold three to Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery for an exhibition called Art Quirks. This exhibition toured schools in south-east Queensland after it had hung in the art gallery.

  • Me viewing my works hung in the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery. Most of the work I've done with keyboards are representations of landscapes. Painting the keys is an act of covering up anotherwise plain, useLESS and colourless object. It is then rendered useFULL in the composition of a landscape image bearing connections to the plastic underground landfill used in the creation of some of our artificial landscapes.
