Kate McElwee Photography - Branding

It isn't often that I get to work with clients whose work makes me fall in love - but this is one of those precious few moments.

Kate McElwee  is a photographer specialising in wedding photography in the Boston area; and if you're already thinking couple by the sea and other cheesy, typical wedding shots stop right there. This is not one of those photographers. Instead, she mastered the art of making her shots appear as unstudied and frank as candid photos - and to bring in full view all the storm of emotions surrounding a wedding.

Even more remarkable, she doesn't seem to Photoshop: her brides, grooms and bridal party show their age, their wrinkles, their imperfections - and yet they look even more striking for it. They look real. They make you wish you were one of them.

Kate's frank and real approach translates into her personal style as well: she asked for a no frills brand, yet an elegant one, that goes with the elegiac beauty of her work (not that she phrased it like that).

What else do you say after that - I think it's time to go straight to the brand and let the images to speak for themselves.
The Luckenbooth is a Scottish symbol of love that dates clear back to the 17th century. It is a often given as a token of affection, betrothal, and friendship. The luckenbooth is usually made with engraved silver and is in the shape of a heart, or two hearts, entwined, with a crown that is usually on top of the heart(s). The crown symbolises loyalty.
