Kaleido. New points of view

"Kaleido" is a motion control system that allows to move camera with straight movement and 360° rotation: it’s designed to make time-lapse photography and more shooting techniques. It’s possibile to control time action of system and shots, but also movement and rotation of camera.
Kaleido is configurable through a controller that allows to define lenght, rotation, number of shots and total cycle time: in this way the software calculates how often it has to move the product and how often has to shot. It’s possible to configure the position of wheels so as to decide if want a straight movement or a wide rotation.
Kaleido has two bipolar stepper motors that are controlled through “Arduino” and “Adafruit Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield”. There are also two optocoupler used to make a switch for camera.
Kaleido right now is not complete because it’s important make other prototypes to choose the right shape and components. However the metal components were lathed and the first prototype was made in 3D printing. Every electronic component, except Arduino, was assembled manually.

Kaleido was exposed to "SUBALTERNO1" in the exibition "School of Design" in March 2013, and during the Milano Design Week 2013 with "Produzione Impropria", and was presented at "PopUp Makers" in March 2013.
