KF was all of Norway's creative communication industry's favorite
magazine through many a'year. Each issue they invited a photographer
(and a few times illustrators) to illustrate the whole magazine. We
(Handverk) was invited to illustrate the last issue KF would make,
before closing it down.
We wanted to make a retrospect of the magazine, and decided on a
rather simple concept: All the illustrations was to be made physically
out of previous issues.
We starter with an enormous amount of magazines. We cut, folded,
shredded, rolled, glued, burned, decomposed, collaged and papermachéed.
The biggest illustration is 7x11 meters, and the smallest one is 10x10
cm. All the illustrations are made physically solely from KF magazines,
then photographed or scanned, and nothing is done digitally.
The cover is a collage of all the people depicted in the magazine – ever. Yes, we went through all of them. So. Many. People.
