Journii is a travel system that enables tourists to experience more of Hunan, and create something that provides a lasting memory of their trip. It also provides local businesses a platform to engage with tourist customers. The system consists of a physical “Journii Diary” that contains integrated RFID modules, and a digital “Journii APP”.
The Journii Diary provides rich illustrative maps of travel locations, a diary to record your thoughts and experiences, spots to collect tickets, receipts, and small tokens, and a photo album. At each location users may also collect unique “Journii stamps” to show that they have visited that location. On its’ own it functions as a beautiful object to record your travels in Hunan.
The Journii APP connects to the journal via NFC communication by tapping on RFID modules inside the journal. The application provides context on locations with photos, historical information, featured restaurants & businesses, transit options and directions. The application provides information that would be too dense and frequently updated to be printed, and displays it in an easy to understand and interactive way.
The Journii APP also provides a platform for local businesses to be discovered by tourists. By offering small discounts to Journii users, the business can be featured in the Journii App. Users that collect Journii Stamps can also redeem them for rewards and discounts at featured businesses. Featured businesses are curated by Journii and priority is given to businesses that provide cultural experiences and high customer satisfaction.
