Our type design workshops deals with usable (non decorative) typefaces - bodytext and display typefaces for print and digital usage. The final products includes typefaces with 40 characters minimum, which are later displayed in B1 poster size and on our Behance page. Beginners and advanced typedesigners are all accepted.
They should know the basics of FontLab or similar programs, and bring their own laptop, preferably a Mac.

When presenting the good cop / bad cop of the duo, the picture says it all.
If not, it's of most importance you know the good cop can carry a Pink Floyd tune.
Aljaž Vesel, BA now a comentor, was a prominent participent of the workshop. He just graduated on Academy of Fine Art and Design / Department of Design of Visual communications in Ljubjana. The young padwan learner of Slovenian typedesigner Ermin Međedović is the FontLab master of the workshop. He works as a graphic designer and a lead guitaris at local rock band Wrong Moose.

  • Our workshop just wasn't the same the last year without her. This year, we're getting her back! At the workshop she has created Marge and Paige, and now she'll present us Editura and all her knowledge gained during her studies in the Netherlands.
Diana Ovezea, MA is one of TypeClinics all-stars. She has just graduated in TypeMedia master in Hague, and is now returning to the workshop in a different role. She is now living proof of the expression “when a student becomes better than the mentor.” She was born close to the Black Sea coast in Romania, Diana moved to Austria as a child, where she attended the American International School. After graduating with honors from the New Design University in St. Pölten, she worked as a graphic designer, mainly on book and corporate design projects. Her interest in type design has its roots in the fascination with complex systems of design, letter shapes, and micro-typography. Now after graduation from TypeMedia, she plans to stay and work in The Hague a little longer.

    the process

  • It is preferable (but not necessary) to start to conceive the initial ideas at home. You can send the sketches to mentors before the workshop. That's how you wouldn't loose any precious time in Trenta.

  • the participants

  • Participants of all levels of expertise come from all over the world: Austria, Australia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, Israel, Italy, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Romania, Slovenia ... And usually they come again.

  • the spirit

  • During the workshop the participations develop a specific type of humor, strangely not entirely appreciated elsewhere. Typical symptoms would be splendid word games, small squirell and llamas worship, and Monty Python adoration.

  • oh yes, the participation fee ...

had stayed the same for years, and is intentionally kept on minimum - 290 Eur.
It covers mentorship, sleeping and eating arrangement, prints...
90 Eur of that should be payed as advance as booking, and can't be returned in case of reservation cancellation.
