I have always known that my uncle 'John Ovens' is an amazing illustrator. The birthday and christmas cards that he would send me and the odd piece of his work that I would see showed me this. But as an adult and a professional graphic designer I took it upon myself to try and show the rest of world what he can do with a single writing fountain pen. And hopefully in turn also make him realise how incredibly well received his work would be to a wide audience.
The results of this project are shown below. I wanted the brand to reflect the fact that all of John Ovens' work is drawn with a single writing fountain pen and dipping ink. The website is minimalist and geometric and uses generous white space to let the work breath and speak for itself. The bold red contrasts and emphasises the blackness of the ink used.
