Three images I produced for the group art show Curated by Matt Held, "Where's My Jetpack?". It presents a mix of paintings,
illustrations, photography, audio, video, written word and installation
art inspired by the mythology of the Jetpack and the broken promise
that personal flight was always just around the corner. The show
approaches the subject both in direct reality and in the form of an
alternate timeline where Jetpacks became common-place in the 50s, 60s,
70s and beyond. Held says, "The dream of Jetpacks has become this great
American white whale and I think the point of this show is to give the
audience a chance to think on the notion that dreams of personal flight
can be more tangible and real than the visions story books and
superheroes have given us - even if it's all a little far-fetched." Work
by Matt Held, Matt Carr, Lee Margolis, Rob Kimmel, Benton Collins, Mac
Montadon and Andrew Hamilton will be on display.
