Japan's light has a unique brightness and clarity to it, light that casts sharp, dark shadows and illuminates faces with reflections that seem to come from nowhere. It's almost as if the buildings, windows and skies of Tokyo and Kyoto continually conspire to frame and light their citizens for portraits. I happily obliged.
