"Karaoke was created with entertainment and amusement purposes. I return to it, I nurture it, I am using its shape to fold, unfold, refold, to play in my project of being, to remain. I want to give an account of my existence beyond document and representation. Knowing through experience, inside the experience. In the karaoke I feel free to be another person momentarily, another person no other than myself. I let go of me. I allow my body to be the protagonist of that another-self during enjoyment, at the limit, on the border, during the uniqueness of the moment."

Jalea Caliente appropriates and resets the karaoke form in attempt to join artistic reflections with everyday live, to dissolve and call into question the boundary between the artist, the artwork and the audience. This is an excuse to meet and dialogue, it is a portable karaoke proposal intended to inquire into the relationships produced within the party context.
Jalea Caliente Karaoke travels,moves through different places of the city and for a few hours it invades space with its portable stage. Jalea Caliente is a singers’ duet who opens each karaoke event they organize and strives to convey the necessary energy to motivate the public to be part of the scene. Karaoke members, Jalea (Jelly) and Caliente (Hot), interpret a selection of songs they like, which belong to a broad repertoire of popular music, e.g. Daniela Romo, Rafaella Carrá, Astrid Hadad, LaurieAnderson, Las Ultrasónicas, Maria Daniela y su sonido Lasser, The Police,Jannette, Amanda Miguel, Madonna, Chavela Vargas, Bat for Lashes and 31 minutos are some of their influences. Jalea Caliente frequently gathers and fosters meeting opportunities among people who are also fond of karaoke and want to sing.
