When visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Haţeg, Hunedoara county, Romania, you will be greeted at the entrance by two dummies dressed in ethnic costumes, one male and one female. They have simple and popular names, Ana and Ion, as their marker tags indicate. While Ana is beheaded and thus, the only noticeable thing about her is the finely worked costume, Ion has a face (marker drawn in a very naive style), and he also has a little fife, noted on his tag right below the name. The misfortunate tag would lead someone to believe that his name is Ion Fluieraş (John Little Fife).
The references are real, the photographs - a simplified allegory.
Analog photography, 120 film, 18x24 cm darkroom prints.
Special thanks to the models, A. and N.
