- Intramural Sports Logos
Create logos for several Anderson University intramural sports teams.
Each of these logos was designed for an intramural sports team at Anderson University, in order to give
them an identity on campus as well as the playing field. The audience included the players on each team, as
well as the students and faculty of the university.
Three of the shirts I designed were for an ultimate Frisbee team called the “Ducks”. The captain of the
team asked me to have a duck in each logo. Since a duck is not a fierce animal, I tried to create a logo each
year that was playful, but serious enough that the team was not perceived as a joke on the field. The other two shirts were made for basketball teams. For the “Osprey” logo, the captain wanted to use the osprey,
and he wanted people to recognize the logo as a basketball team. I did some research on each of the 32
logos of the teams in the NBA. I placed an outline of an osprey inside a basketball so that the logo would
be visually interesting and dynamic, as well as let the audience know that it was a basketball team. For the
“Broken Hearts” logo, the captain of this team wanted the name, slogan, and a broken heart in the logo.
I took the three separate components and combined them into one idea. By putting the name on top of
a heart, the letters “broke” it, and the slogan followed the right line of the heart.
