This poster explores a radial typographic system to explore the intersection of Humboldt Ave. and Commerce st; specifically the Humboldt Ave Bridge. Which closed for repairs for what was supposed to be a few months and ended up being for over two years, causing businesses in the growing neighborhood to close. I was drawn to the use of a vibrant red to symbolize the frustration and anger the residents showed during construction. I used a contrast between serif and san serif faces as well as very large and normal sized fonts. I also wanted to play with tension, between the type and the edge of the paper, also to mirror the attitudes of the community. I chose text about the neighborhood and poetry to describe the anger not only about the bridge, but the gentrification of the area, that lead to the construction project.
