This work here about women is not homogeneous. These women all come from different living. This heterogeneity and it's large diversity comes from that all the pictures I chose are picked from my stranger project. These are all women I didn't know before I shoot them. The goal of this project is to talk with people I wouldn't talk if it wasn't for the picture. I aslo break by doing this, the anonymity of people in this modern world. A big part of these pictures for the women project has been taken at the Rainbow gathering of Quebec in 2009. My vision of these women is wide open on the futur, a vision full of hope for a better world. They are, in a sens, a kind of warriors of modern time, fighters for the protection of their planet and engaged in their society. They chose an alternative way to live and to raise their kids. I think this vision is visible in the look of the two youngest girl. A look that seems to come from an old soul that already knows a lot.

The series assembles three works, representing three generations of women as an equivalent to "dream", "the present" and "memory". Each work contemplates on one generation of women in Israel in a visual form. Both allegorical and empirical concepts define each generation, as well as the dialogue between the three.
The third generation, older women, is presented by objects that are taking place in our life as a conception that form us as young women in the present. We grow up on the stories and mythos of our mothers - "the holocaust survivors" "the pioneers" "the immigrants". The Holocaust memories nurture the militant culture. What we truly have from this older generation are memories, fine line between nostalgia and disappointment. The objects are a reflection of a residue, remains of fragmented dreams and beliefs.
These dreams and beliefs were constructed in the Israeli society and are still vital within the young generation. The Israeli girl's dream is not just the classic universal dream of a white wedding dress, but also has a distinct local component, which might seem to an outsider as a contradiction - to become a soldier.
The portraits of my generation reflect the conflict that young Israeli women cope with. Both dreams and memory define our perception of ourselves. In some portraits the floral pattern background correlates with the romantic conservative role, while in others it portrays dissonant relations, a constant tension between adaptation and disillusionment.
The photographs function as a representation of presentation, imitating what might be considered as the reality of women in israel as both idea and ideal.

Spanish women have suffered a lot during the last century, and they still do. (like most of the women on this world). But we focused our work on this pain because we thought we own this to them, and we have represented this with the scars on their bellies (from the huge scar of the older women to the little one of the younger), that they show without any shame. Moreover, motherhood was almost their only reason to exist not so many years ago, and, of course, that motherhood is also represented by the scars of the two oldest women. Each picture of the belly is accompanied with three portraits of that generation. The portraits are taken in the intimacy of this women, we looked for their emotions, their look. Maybe we do not give too much information about how's the life of an spanish woman, but, beyond the physical characteristics of spanish women, we really wanted to tell their story above all...

I take photos to get close to people, im not good with words, but thankfully i discovered in photography a bridge from me to the others. i would like that my photos showed that, a connection, something really very personal and intimate, something that feels "close"
in my session for woman photoproject i took pictures of women that are or has been very close to me: friends of diferent ages, my mother, my little cousin and the woman that took care of me and my brother when we were little. All this women are special for me, they taught me the most important things in my life (to draw, to make things by myself, to always be who i am, to have fun, to apreciate the little things) and even when this women are very different between them, they all are a model for me, and thats why i choose to take their pictures.

IIn the common opinion reigns the stereotype that links the Italian woman to the idea of beauty, sensuality, elegance. Milan, the chosen context for Michele Miele shoots, seems to be the main container of these kind of women. Actually they are something more: they're mainly made of energy, love, passion for their job. It's not about the "Working Girl" clichè, rather it's a question of claiming goal in their life and a role into the society.
The smile of the protagonists of Michele Miele's shots depict a real woman in everyday life: her passions, her hopes, her goals, maybe her fears. In the age group of 20/30 y.o., women's smile is heavy, bright and infectious, conveied not only with the teeth but also with the eyes, the little movements of the face's lines, soft tic motions.
In the 30/40 age group, the smile is still there, but we can catch some symptoms of balance, an oscillation between the joy of living their own lives and the quest for new goals. The professional sphere misses the role of main goal becoming the foundation of experiences that will let better develops other spheres of everyday life.
The women between 50/70 smile less, but we can notice a light spark of calm in their eyes: the deserved goal to be achieved in the years has been reached. Or maybe not, but it's ok.

For the age group 30-40 GAROFANO offers still shots where the eye is the protagonist, women aware of their being, happy, ecstatic, on stilts, flowering. For the age group 50-70, the artist proposes shots where women portrayed embody the stereotypical view of Italian women. Women dressed in black at the door of the gate, an elderly peasant woman sitting before a table full of oregano, which is preserving in jars, all Italian women daughters of a generation that seems far away but is still the pillar of Italian society. Bring on show as strong an antithesis between the two age groups of young and senile age group is an artifact strong metaphor that wants to support the widespread tendency among Italian women to empower themselves in youth and then approved stereotypical image italica woman made of everything they have denied to continue their process of emancipation.In all the photos are proposed for each age group, the woman's face becomes an expression of a feeling or a thought that deftly managed to block through photo taken.

The women in these photographs were told that they were being photographed for two reasons: 1) they were women; 2) they shared a nationality. In addition, they were put into specific poses and positions and instructed to convey no emotion to simplify their responsibilities. The goal, ultimately, was to reveal (and capture) the naturalness of their nationality and femininity through the stabilization of their bodies and in their emotionless states. The women in these photographs share the same Chinese heritage. Their histories are rooted in the East. They are also bonded by the fact that they all live in a Western society, some first generation immigrants, others not. Whatever their personal histories, they all share a common task of having to negotiate their personal identities through these two disparate lenses. These photographs explore the cultural contexts of these women and seek to question what meaning their overlapping histories/stories may have for them, and for the viewer.

Turkish women are neither modern in the Western sense nor traditional and deeply rooted to their customs as it might seem. Turkish women wether they be young or old, educated or illiterate, Muslim, Christian or Jewish, all share a common sense of unity with each other. This unity is not always a harmonious unity though, the relations they keep with each other, especially with women they don't know is usually cold and distant. But they're never alone, most Turkish women, especially the new generation will try to distance themselves from others, only to find that they've been dubbed and the untold presence of another women, be it a mother or a friend, always lurks close to them. Especially in todays buzzing metropolitan world of hard competition where every man or woman has to defend for him/herself, the Turkish women has to work extra hard not to fall into the web of crowds created by the women community. To be alone, to escape from the others, we can only hope to hide, to escape but when the time comes, when they grow, when I grow, I know there will be a crowd of women, whether hating me or welcoming me with open arms as soon as I stop trying to hide. Someone will always acknowledge my presence, I will never be truly alone, because I am a Turkish woman.

Woman is close to nature because she is able to create life. That’s why I tried to reflect wildness, power and deepness of nature in my women’s faces. I do not think Russian women much differ from European, Ethiopian or Arabic. I see them as strong, too much strong, brave, but with sense of humor and big heart. I shot six ages of woman. Age of innocence (12 years). age of sexual awakening (16 years), age of experience with mind and body (20 years), age of motherhood (28 years), age of second motherhood (38 years) and age of freedom (40 years).

What interested me, it's to see these women in their intimacy, trying to reveal what can be secret at them. In my country, I think that the women have a lot of character, and possess many qualities. But what attracts me, it's this very sensitive, soft, mysterious side and at once strong. Then according to ages, certain wisdoms appear... These women of portraits moved me, I like I can go into their intimacy, and that they offer to me is what they don't show to the world. It's very important for me. This sensitive side, but also a side rises and indefinissable which is very present at the woman's.

Однако, традиции и опыт так велики, что сознательно или нет, мы противопоставляем себя всему внешнему миру женщин как отдельный тип под именем «Русская».�'се это для меня �" не противоречия, а черты единого образа, который я так ценю и вижу в каждой из мои�... героинь.�' то же время, каждая из ни�... - индивидуальность, и именно поэтому я выбрала черно-белый формат снимков, позволяющий, как мне кажется, отбросить все лишнее и субъективное и оставить на рассмотрение зрителю только взгляд, образ, мимолетное настроение и, конечно, женскую красоту. I work in the wet-plate collodion process, which predates film, and was widely used from 1850-1870. The pictures were made with a reproduction camera and a Voightlander Sohn lens manufactured in 1856. The concept was actually simple. I put an ad on craigslist Los Angeles soliciting 3 generations of females for the project. I got two responses, both families came to my studio to be photographed and I photoshopped the pictures together into a triptych. The submissions represent 3 generations of American Women. As most everybody knows, we are a nation made of people of many nations; this is particularly noticible in a city like Los Angeles, where it is not uncommon to hear several different languages spoken at a cafe. In fact, the guy who served me the coffee at my local cofeehouse (where I sent the images from )speaks English, Farsi and Norwegian. I think that the pictures submitted give an idea of this.

I can't give a definition of the women of my nation. I even can't speak for the women I have portrayed. Every woman is an individual that stands and should speak for herself. I can just say that I hope that each of them is what she wants to be.

For “Woman. International photo project” I am exhibiting extracts of my works “Julia” and “Family and Friends”. The pictures present women living in Germany, which are relatives or friends of mine. I portrait people just after I got to know them good enough to become familiar with their very own characteristics and particularities. It is important to me to comprehend their way of being and their personal vision of life.
Regarding these photographs one might not find a suitable image fitting German women in general. Due to my relation I am reflecting these women with a subjective approach.
Evelyn owns a tiny store where she is selling cloths, hand-made fashion, and repairs all types of clothing. After a long period of consideration she finally decided to discharge her former office job for her dream. Once she studied technologies of nutrition, still she loves cooking the traditional way, sticks to her beliefs and seems to never give up a certain stubbornness.
Tatjana was born in the Ukraine near Odessa and got married to a German. She moved to Berlin where she gave birth to 3 children. Her husband decreed German to be the family's language. Non of the children speaks Russian or Ukrainian. After buying a property Tatjana got divorced and endured a hard time being operated for cancer. Her granddaughter is four years old and calls herself Lea.
Thea lives with a cat and a couple of chicken at an old barnyard in the country. Because the efforts of keeping the estate going are troubling her much she thinks of selling it and moving to a small apartment. She feels frail and stays nearly almost alone. All the more she gladly prepares an excellent tea for her rare guests.
Gisela is sporting, enthusiastic and always interested the other people's narrations. She enjoys the mountains and hiking in nature. Since the passing of her husband she manages the work in the garden on her own, cuts the hedge and trees, harvests, takes care of the flower beds and prongs the soil.
Vita is Kazakh and came as a child of a Russian German family to Bremen when she was little. She is studying photography and works in an art gallery. Her character is decent, she tends to be thoughtful, has a great sense of humour and is always able to lend an ear.
Rita and her husband come from the Ukraine and live with a child in Germany. They never got rid of their accents and Rita can barely prospect her future career. She is passionate and warm-hearted, always concerned for the well-being of others and sees herself most of all as mother of the four years old Nikita, who is parented bilingual.
Julia was born near Chemnitz, studied medicine, has a two years old daughter and works as a doctor. Her rational profession conflicts with her temper, her musical talents and her artistic ambitions. She is unconventional, dreamy and very determined.

GARAGE GANG/boutique of multi-disciplinary initiatives run the international photo-project Woman.
26 photographers, 17 nations and over 200 woman took part in the initiative.
The goal of this project is to broaden the picture of a woman and with photo art celebrate her as the life force of our society �" transformational force, an individual and social force �" in the PAST (50-70 years old women), PRESENT (30-40 years old) and FUTURE (10-25 years old).It is essential to underline the role of women in shaping our behavior and, transferring the cultural knowledge across generations and, therefore, carrying out our cultural modeling.

Touring for 2 weeks with the exhibition of 300 photographic stories to 5-7 cities of Ukraine to present these very diverse and varied faces of femininity in open spaces, like gardens etc., and art galleries for the public at large to see. We are not focused just on one time local event, but we aim to spread our message in other towns and villiges of Ukraine.

The project materials will be transferred abroad to spread its influence via the same model in countries that participated and others. Their exhibition tours will be enriched with artistic performances, photo projections during social events etc., so the project will increase its capacity to move and engage the public. The funds for international activities will be raised separatly by activists form other countries.
