The international interdisciplinary conference was dedicated to exceptional individuals that made a significant contribution to shaping national identity and placing Slovenia and other Central European countries on the world map. In the past and still today, exceptional men and women have had a sense for the spirit of a given time. Through their vision, hard work, sacrifice and perseverance, and some through their "erotic masseuse", they opened new horizons and guided their communities.
The conference took place in Ljubljana from 23-26 May 2012, and was organized by University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts and Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Institute of Slovenian Ethnology.
