Innovative Design's profile

Innovative Design Rebranding

Innovative Design - or InnoD for short - is a special project of the academic senate at the University of California, Berkeley. We are a family of artists, designers, and photographers, collaborating to make Berkeley beautiful. We offer design, web, and photography services for the campus and the Berkeley community. We also offer sixteen week courses on Adobe Photoshop, an annual design compeition, and workshops throughout the year. Our past clients have included Cream, Caltopia, the UC Berkeley College of Engineering. Our graduates have gone on to work for Facebook, Google, Prezi, and other high tech companies.

From the start, the goal of the organization's rebranding project was to put forth a robust new visual identity that remained true to the of the 2011 identity overhaul. The brand image had to be both distinctive and versatile, cutting-edge and accessible. And, of course, it had to re-incarnate Innovative Design's classic three circle climb.

What was achieves is what has been dubbed "the stamp out", a highly flexible, yet highly recognizable logo mark that can function as a negative space, positive space, viewing lens, or canvas. Mathematically precise, the stamp out distills the spirit of the old visual identity and channels it along a path of least resistance. It will be the centerpiece of Innovative Design's brand image.
