Information Visualization

Can we feed our world? The visualization above is a start to answering that question by mapping real population density compared to population density. Real population density measures how many people there are per acre of arable land—arable being defined as land sufficient for growing food. Population density, on the contrary, is how many people there are per total land area. Total, in the world, there are 1.32 people per acre. If it takes .2 acres to feed one person, the answer to the initial question should be yes. Though, I suggest it's much more complicated than this simple calculation. The map gives insight to which country groupings have the most people per acre, and thus, not enough land to feed their own people.
