The goal of this project was to provide the client with a mobile structure, that could be utilized at different locations within the neighborhood. The idea for this structure began with mapping the major influences of this region and creating an abstract map layered within the focus wall of the structure. This would inform all users of the influences of the larger city onto the small objects they were interacting with.
The materiality of the project represents the different user groups and diversity of the neighborhood while weathering and gathering context from each site the structure visits. Copper roof ages and tarnishes and wood floor wears according to site specific usage patterns. Uses include: Bike racks, benches, bar, and neighborhood information center. It is broken down into five units, each with an operable roof, adaptable to any arrangement and any site.
