Some impressions of an abandoned textile factory in East Germany (Oberlausitz)
Founded in 1845, the company was dispossessed after WWII and continued as a people's enterprise until the end of the German Democratic Republic in 1989. This enterprise, called "VEB Grobgarnwerke", was known for its high-quality duvets. Today, a little part of the company still remains as an automotive supplier. Most machinery of the old factory has been removed in the early nineties and main parts of the buildings were demolished in 2010. The remaining part, where I shot these photos, is now used as a fish farm.
