Packaging
Indian take away meal
For this brief we were asked to design packaging for a take away meal for two of Asian cuisine.

I chose to base my packaging around Indian food. The packaging was to be functional using shape and form effectively. The packaging was also to reflect the cultural qualities of the food and the country of origin.

I based my branding around traditional Indian patterns and architecture. The main brand was inspired by Indian patterns and the type hints at the Hindi letter form. I chose the name Chalo because it is an easy word to say for English speakers. The word itself means “lets go” in Hindi which relates to the idea of taking away food. My idea for the dye cuts were inspired by Indian Jali’s which are perforated wood or stone designs.

Inside I divided the packaging into four sections with a circle in the middle for a dip. On the top. I placed two forks so that the meal can be eaten on the go or kept until you get home. For the handlle I used two lengths of ribbon with and elasticated bottom so that the weight of the food can be lifted and carried easily.
