Each student was assigned a brand to redesign. Mine was Caja Inmaculada or CAI, a Spanish bank of religious nature based in Zaragoza.
The original symbol is a monogram with the bank's acronym and the suggestion of a human figure all in white over an orange square. The logotype consists of the full name in uppercase black Helvetica.
I chose to maintain the structure monogram + logotype, but aware that both elements needed to be changed radically. For the logotype, I chose the Gotham Rounded, whose rounded terminations go along pretty well with the curves of the symbol. The monogram is composed by letters in lowercase and seeking unity, I decided that the logotype would go in lowercases too. In the original monogram, the square was necessary to balance the composition, after redesigning it, I realized it was no longer necessary.
