IT ZINE
DIY Zine and Map
This project was an exercise in do-it-yourself media. It required an understanding of zine culture and the ability to effectively engage a particular audience and communicate information effectively through the combination of word and image. As a 2012 agIdeas interstate committee member, I spent a week in Melbourne over the duration of the design conference. As a result, I chose to put IT Zine together whilst exploring Melbourne and all its hidden treasures.
Flexible in both layout aand content, IT Zine was designed as the first part of a series, lengthening the life of the zine and encouraging a wider audience. The zine is accompanied by a map which outlines the various hotspots mentioned throughout the zine, enabling the viewer can go on their own personal adventure. Due to the low budget nature of zines, the zine was limited to two colours, yellow and black, printed on yellow card and white paper on a home printer and collated and bound by hand, keeping production costs to a minimum.
