2014 ISTD Competition / Eveything About One thing
The 2014 ISTD competition was entitled “Everything about one thing". I chose to look at the mental illness Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
After some extensive research I decided to create a publication that would highlight some of the many wide ranging symptoms found in OCD.
I chose not to focus on a singular but instead include a range of case studies all depicting different ways in which people are affected by this illness.
The book’s order is specifically created in a way that the reader is only revealed that the symptoms observed are those of people with OCD at
the end of the publication. The use of Futura combined with the space in the book aims to place emphasis on the obsessive symptoms seen in
patients and their meticulous ways. One of the main theme’s running throughout the publication is the depiction through cut out’s of how
sufferers attempt to lead a normal life and hide their struggle with OCD.
