This design is based on ink dissolving in water. When dropped, the ink gradually disseminates throughout the clear water. In the process of diluting, the ink would compose various images. However, external forces are imposed such as shaking the water within the container; this image composing process would be off balanced. Thus, those beautiful images would seem to be in vain and are doomed to vanish. Therefore, it is necessary for me to devise a method to capture and record those images. The process, from the start of the ink being dropped into the water to the total dilution of it, reminds me of a limited lifespan, love and sensibilities of human beings themselves, the nature of which are of great similarity, with subtle changes; they could easily vanish. I shaped the random traces of ink into recognizable letters, out of which the word “brevity” would emerge. I chose a bathtub, a washbowl and a toilet bowl as the containers, because they are necessities for daily life. My purpose is to appeal for the cherishing of love, which may seem to be routine, but if unattended for a while, someday it would end up like water in a toilet bowl, flushed away without any trace.
