First, we've created 5 different directions from which the Valul lui Traian Committee chose only two for further development.
We had the objective to create a logo which will identify and differentiate, while being memorable, timeless and appropriate.
At the same time, it has to contain as many aspects as possible of the Valul lui Traian Protected Geographical Indication.
Valul lui Traian region is geographically situated at the South of Republic of Moldova, having a warmer climate. We decided to use a warm color palette.
The logo will contain 3 colors, each of them representing a wine type: red, rose and white.
To give it more personality, we'll try to integrate the VT initials into the graphic symbol of the logo.
3 dimensions are relevant for this region - the historical one, the geographical and the product related one. For each of them, illustrations were included as a part of logo.
The logo should remind about a glass in which wine is poured.
The graphic symbol of the logo should also incorporate an abstract illustration of a vine bush.
This is how valul lui Traian actually looks in reality. We should incorporate it into the graphic symbol.
The graphic element of the logo should also symbolize two hands carefully holding grapes. This has connection with tradition and the human factor.
The graphic symbol should contain 3 elements, as the region has 3 different subregions: Codrii Tigheciului, Campia Bugeacului and Terasele Prutului.
We've tried different fonts and typography styles.
Here are a few sketches from the creation process.
And here is the logo. If heavily zoomed, you can see different elements which have historical, geographical and product related illustrations at the edge of each element of the logo graphic symbol. Of course this won't be visible at normal sizes, but we'll use this as additional elements for the brandbook and further visual materials we have to develop.
