One fifth of the Amazon Rainforest has already been destroyed by the timber industry, cattle ranching and the unsustainable expansion of crops like soya. Climate change is delivering another blow to this delicate ecosystem, causing a knock on effect of droughts and forest fires, which in turn cause more deforestation, which cause yet more climate change.
‘Pay It Forward’, a new not for profit organization, has developed a campaign called ‘I AM’ to raise awareness within New Zealand of deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest.
The ‘I AM’ series of postcards and posters have been printed on 100% natural, biodegradable, recycled paper, using black vegetable ink. The idea is that you visit the ‘Pay It Forward’ website, make a donation, and in return you will receive a pack of postcards. Each postcard contains a Kapok seed for you to forward to your loved ones and when covered with soil and nurtured the postcard itself will flourish into a beautiful tree.
Its a win, win situation, you help the Amazon Rainforest by planting your postcard, and in return, it helps you.
