  • Hydrozoan

Hydrozoan is an interactive sculpture made by Federico Petrei and Erwin Canderle, with the sound implementation by Alessandro Fiorini Damiani and Mattia Portello. This piece has 6 sections that interact singularly and together with the users located under the area detected by an infrared camera. It moves and lights up the tentacles with servo motors and LEDs and emits sounds from each of the 6 associated speakers. Once a users passes under it, the pre-programmed dimming loop ends and lets itself control completely. Movements and sounds respond immediately to the detection, with the implementation of a sonic feedbacking system, which allows to interact even with the noise and the sound of the voices underneath. This piece has been shown at London’s TAA in April 2011.
