    Camden were because of the crucial rail and canal links a strong target for bombing during the world war I.
    1930, after the war, Camden had a huge problem with slum, and started to rebuild housing.
    The iconic modern Isokon flats (NW3) were built with a new lifestyle on sale. This warehouse inspired lifestyle still inspire to days executive.

    Camden has since the 1990 Pop art movement been a hotbed of creativity. The traces are unavoidable among Camden high street.
    With a strong art and music scene and a famous market Camden has an important role in the urban structure.
    As we do more and more online alone there are still things we prefer to do together.
    Experiencing art and food are things that give us new energy in a stressful lifestyle, as we want to increase our life standard.

    Reaching out to the younger crowd, which already using the area around the site and Regent Canal, I´ve created a space were you can hangout and mix with different generations as there is a gallery and restaurant that will attract the older generations.
    By using ramps I´m not only doing it accessible for everyone, I’m also giving the skater a possibility to skate thru the whole building.

  • In the book “Skateboarding, Space andthe City, and the body” Iain Borden talks about how the skater experience the urban environment.
    Skaters does not see the building as a whole thing, don’t evencare about the meaning of the building.
    The skater experience the architecture fractured, rail, stairs or potential surface and see it in movement, skaters are interested in texture,grip, sound, how the body comes up against the building.
    That gives the skater a more dynamic, but in the same way much more reduces understanding of the architecture.

    With Camden as a solid source for creativity in art and music for several decades I also would like to offer a space for upcoming artists to exhibit their work.
    The three apartments in the north-east corner of thesite are meant for a caretaker of the building, a curator of the exhibition,and the current artist to stay there.

    I want to create a structure that generates interaction and openness to cultural differences by being honest, transparent and flexible for the future to fade into it.
    The choice of using the ramp as the circulation creator gives the user opportunities of experience the structure and increasing interaction between the users.

    The apartments attached to the north-east façade have their private space in the public room.
    My material chooses is representing honesty, stability, and transparency.
    The texture on the exterior concrete walls its chosen to respond as less as possible to ageing in a city. The inner texture is lighter and smoother to reflect light.
    The canal level roof are also lighter to reflect light and water reflection.
    The structural strategy gives people possibilities to interact and connect in new ways.

  • As we are living in denser communities with blurred out boundaries between functions I experimented with the ramps and how you access the units.
    It’s about sharing and show respect.

    The ramps for the public are about 4m wide the private 1,5m. No other boundaries are set.

    Creating the spaces from the inside out I have been experimenting with flow, light and spatial experience to create an intriguing building for the user.
    Important qualities I have been working with are how the viewpoints are connecting the user back to the urban context.

    In an urbanizing world and with the territorial boundaries between clear functions slowly being erased the local community need to be reconnected.
    With a multicultural society leading toextreme identity complexity a big matter is how we are going to createcollective values with laws and standards to generate solidarity and harmony,one way is interaction.
