In 2008, I was fortunate to have the chance to art direct and design Hunter the Vigil for White Wolf Game Studio/CCP NA. I as also fortunate to be able to work once again with some of my favorite artists, Chad Michael Ward on the 4 covers for the Hunter line and Sam Araya for the World of Darkness/Hunter crossover, Slasher. For the interiors, I was able to work with some truly talented individuals...Costas Harritas, Avery Butterworth, Michel Koch, Kari Christensen, Sean Phillips, Nik Stakal, and many more.
Once the work on the Hunter rule-book was complete, my next task was to create the four supplements that would expand the scope of the line. Each one of the books was geared towards a particular one of the "main" New World of Darkness lines....World of Darkness, Vampire the Requiem, Werewolf the Forsaken, and Mage the Awakening. In order to create a feeling of "crossover", I incorporated various elements from those lines into interior design of the books. Sadly, I didn't get to do the layout for Night Stalkers due to it going to press at the same time as the Hunter "art book" and several other projects I was responsible for. If only I could have crammed 8 more hours in a day....
While I hate to ever mention I have a favorite book out of a certain bunch, Slasher is hands down my favorite out of the Hunter supplements. I had carte blanche for that book as far as how twisted and gory I could go with it. Bloody razor blades, rusted drill bits, severed body parts, baby doll heads, a variety of skulls, assorted viscera, old surgical impelements....and that is just for the graphic elements I created. Then I turned my artists loose on the book. To say that book was influenced by suspense and horror films like Seven, House of 1000 Corpses, and the Devil's Rejects would be an understatement.
