“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2
My motivation for making this series is to document the relationships between a group of people, in particular a group of girls at Covenant College living on the 3 rd floor of Andreas. My intention is to draw viewers in by the emotions these relationships may carry. I want to capture not only the interconnectedness that is evoke emotionally but the bond they have created by shooting them in various hugging positions. Hugging, in this case, is viewed as showing the development of trust these girls have for one another. It creates emotional and identity-forming bonds with these hall mates. Showing the various hugs is also another way to show each girl’s individual personality along with defining their particular bond. When you view my work, I want you to be able to feel like you are a part of this special bond, as if it is you were a part of this hall. My purpose is for you to see my work as social documentary. My Intent is multifaceted, which involves statement-oriented and expressive subject intent. I also intend for my audience to reflect upon what you are viewing and possibly reading. The lighting will be very soft with a shallow depth of field. This series is inspired by the relationships I have developed with these girls, my hall mates.
