Located in a flat plot, inside a private condominium, the House 53 answers the objectives of a classic family with 2 sons. Based on the culture from the south of Brazil, where social spaces need to have a special place for barbecue and a fireplace to face the strong winter, this house brings together comfortable and open spaces. The main living room is connected to the dining room which connects the kitchen and the barbecue space due to the necessity of having integrated spaces, in order to promote interaction among the people.
The shape of the plot is longitudinal, which allowed the house to spread itself along the east-west orientation, thus providing good illumination and ventilation for all the rooms. In addition, putting the social spaces on the back of the site, where a special lane was designed according to the family wishes, brought intimacy and convenience. All the rooms are located on the second floor, so the visitor is directed straight to the living and dining room, where he can appreciate the private patio. Once the sliding doors from the dining room open, you have a unique environment, breaking down the virtual barriers between interior and exterior.
The materials, all natural except for the white stucco, are associated with the sectors of the house. Wood brings harmony and comfort not only indoor but also outdoors, where it balances the light and white geometry with the concrete planes. The access was divided in two, one that leads directly to the service areas and the main one, which is placed near the staircase, designed as a particular block allowing the visitor to located it immediately, whether for its great lightning or for its absoluteness.
Finally the house stands as a sober element with a clear volumetric expression, where the white volume has the role to bind all the functions of the house, which at the same time are individual, although belong to the same system. The project was developed with the Zoom+ Arquitetura team.
