Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Book Cover Redesigns
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Book Cover Redesign
Book Covers and Spines
These are book jacket cover redesigns of Adam Douglas' 1979 sci-fi book series, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The covers are for Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and Mostly Harmless (The first, second, and fifth book, respectively, of the five book instalment). Each design was created by hand and then was photographed and edited on Photoshop.
The typography of the first book was created with the use of ribbon. each letter was hand done individually and was then photographed and arranged to spell out title on Photoshop. The background was a photograph of blue paint mixed in water that was in a bathtub. The star effect was created by the over hanging lights above the water.
The second book's title was created using random fooditems I found in my fridge; cuccumber, hot sause, mustard, and sliced cheese. These items were then cut up and used to form the letters on a large plate. The background was a photograph of my office chair.
The final cover was created in a similar style as the first one, except instead of using ribbon I used trim with flowers on it that were then used to glued over the title that was written in pencil on chart paper. The word Mostly was a marker trace of a grunge font that was available on my computer.
