Hitchcockian Stairs
Final Project
Hitchcock: An Architecture of Fear
After a semester-long examination and critique of landmark films by Alfred Hitchcock, these posters are offered as a contemporary re-imagining of movie propaganda utilizing one of the most striking architectural elements of Hitchcock’s films. The staircase acts almost universally as a foreboding construct, yet succeeds in being manifest in many different circumstances and at varying degrees of intensity. Expressed here, the stairs from four movies are decontextualized to emphasize the psycological impact and distortion of each scenario.
