Artists Gabe Ostley, Haruka Ashida Ostley, and Emily Eldridge collaborated on a mural for a rooftop playground at Yew Chung International School in Hong Kong. Working together to create a cohesive design proved a challenge, but a successful one. Each artist has a distinct style, so a limited color palette was used to unite the overall appearance.
Throughout the mural, a story is being told. Gabe Ostley's clever characters portray historical and literary figures, while Haruka Ashida Ostley's oversized realistic portrayals of students deliver a touch of familarity to students who use the space. Emily Eldridge's illustrations share the story of high school life - talking with friends on the phone, time spent playing sports, and studying hard to make the grade.
