Years ago, I read Oscar Wilde's and the gothic imagery of that poem had haunted me. When we got the chance to work with Australian photographer Georges Antoni, the seasons were turning and we were about to begin shooting fall/winter.
It was season of romantic lace, even Chanel had created a metal filigree lace glove. It looked beautiful and delicate but was cold and rigid on the hand. Antoni moodier up the light and we spent days before sourcing for different textures of lace. I dyed the roses, a technique I learned as a kid, which lent a gorgeous sense of decay to the dark spread. Even the high jewelry pieces echoed a kind of bewitchment. Diamond-encrusted spider-webbed necklaces, chunky blood ruby falcon rings, rutilated quartz crucifixes.
Brands included in this spread include Prada, La Perla and Chanel.
