I have a project that I will be doing for some time. My plan is to illustrate 100 heads in black and white. There is a time limit for each, as they cannot exceed more than two hours from start to finish.
I have various reasons why I am doing this. One would be the simple fact of having a great collection of head shots. Another is to build up my speed when painting digitally. Also this gives rise to an exploration into all the various features and shapes of different peoples heads, so that when pressed to create a portrait or character from my own imagination I will not fall back on what feels familiar or comfortable. I will have a vast assortment of practice to give depth and variety to characters that will be created in the future.
