A classic storybook layout with a modern twist of washed-out photography. Created for Graphic Design 1, the tale of Hansel & Gretel is illustrated by a series of photographs taken in the Financial District of San Francisco. Like the area itself the photographs are architectural and contain virtually no cooler except for the prominent stone gray. When selecting these illustrations however and editing them, I chose pictures that had one detail of color that popped out from the gray. This choice and the cover gave the photographs an almost illustrative feel.
The book was laid out with the delicate and beautiful Adobe Caslon typeface, the cover and the tile page details in the alternate modern look of Caviar Dreams.
